AIDS vaccine and shortage of funds

AIDS vaccine and shortage of funds by Leulseged Amare
The world faces a big challenge on how to fight or control HIV/AIDS. In the third world this disease has become the major problem for many humans, particularly in sub Saharan Africa. The major problem is how to support the infected or HIV positive person, and then the AIDS patient. The expense of drugs, the lack of healthcare, make the challenges enormous. The additional complication of the genetic makeup of HIV (a retrovirus) makes development of a vaccine very complicated for researchers. Because of this it need more funds and more researchers. The USA is one of the major sources of funding on research of HIV/ AIDS, much of it from private foundations like the Gates Foundation, established by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife.
