Soup For The Soul

My family and I are all from Marianna, Arkansas which is a very small town in the South with about 1,000 people population in the south. In Arkansas, many families have their own farms which have been passed down generations in their families. On the farms, many people grow a lot of their own fruits, vegetables, and ingredients to make food as well as cotton. My family owns a few farms in Arkansas where they grow corn, beans ( a variety of beans) tomatoes, watermelon, cabbage, potatoes cotton and we even have Pecan trees, which we use the Pecans to make Pecan Pie. My last visit to Arkansas was around the time of the year where they clear and plow the fields to get ready to put down new seeds. Here is what the farm looks like around that time. Farm
The houseOne of our family traditions is a soup that has been in my family for over 40 years.The soup includes tomatoes, beans, pinto beans, ground beef, corn, cabbage, potatoes and green peppers. As a child growing up, even till this day, I never eat vegetables. Vegetables are a very important part of our daily diets to stay healthy. Vegetables are low in fat and calories. They also provide fiber, vitamins as well as minerals to our bodies. They even can help prevent diseases! Since my days in Arkansas, i've never been much of a healthy eater and I am very picky as well and busy. I have never liked vegetables even though I know they are important for our bodies.I remember the first time my grandmother made soup for me. Earlier that day, we went out and I helped her pick peas, beans and get corn. I knew this was something I would not enjoy eating but she told me I would love it and to my surprise, i did! I loved the soup! The mix of meat with the vegetables and spices made them delicious! I learned how to make the soup myself and even though I cant go on the farm and pick my own vegetables, I can get natural vegetables and as well as organic vegetables myself and make the soup. The soup is very hearty and healthy and can be eaten for lunch or dinner and is served with cornbread. I didn't know eating healthy could taste so good until I had this soup. Now that I am older and am able to make it on my own, it helps me stay healthier by getting a more balanced dinner and stay healthy.I decided to share the recipe with everyone out there like me who find it hard to enjoy vegetables, who are too busy to make a quality, healthy meal or for people who just want a healthy delicious meal! Everyone should try it! It quick and easy I guarantee you'll like it! Enjoy!!

What You Will Need
Ingredients
1 Ib of ground beef
1 cup of butter beans
2 cups of whole kernel corn
2 cups of veg-all
2 cans of tomato paste
2 cups of sliced tomatoes
2 cups of whole green beans
2 whole potatoes
1/2 of a green pepper
1/2 of an onion
Seasoning Salt
Creole Seasoning
2 cups of water

The Soup Recipe

1. The first thing you want to do is to have all of your ingredients opened and sliced.
2. In a decent sized pot set to med heat on the stove, begin cooking the meat and after about 10 min, throw in the onions and peppers until the meat is fully cooked.
3. After the meat is fully cooked, pour out the fat and juices.
4. With the meat still on the stove, begin to put all of your ingredients into the pot.
5. Once all the ingredients are in the pot, stir them around, cover them with a lid and let it cook until potatoes are softened and veggies are complete. Completed Soup 6. ENJOY!
